A set of eight (6+2) Edward Barnsley (1900-1987) arts and crafts Cotswold School French polished solid oak dining chairs with open rail backs, square section legs, full mortise and tenon pegged joints and drop-in seats. Crafted for the 1936 Coronation where Barnsley was commissioned to produce the design.

Each chair bears a crown stamp and some with marked ‘Coronation’.

The carvers measure 93cm (h) x 59cm (w) x 56cm (d) and the standard chairs measure 88cm (h) x 49cm (w) x 49cm (d). In good sturdy condition with solid joints, some minor blemishes and splitting to one leg. Drop-in seats have recently been reupholstered in royal blue wool fabric.
